Chablis ‘La Pierrelée’

Chablis ‘La Pierrelée’

£17.95Price

Chablis La Pierrelée (“The Stones”) references the soils of the region and the mineral edge of classic Chablis style. The wine is fines and expressive – full of fruit when young and developing complex flavours with age.

This Chablis is released later and with more bottle age than many other wineries do.

The grapes are from 20 year old vines and undergo both yeast and malolactic fermentation in tanks, then spending 6 months on the lees.

Chablis is possibly the most famous white wine in the world, in fact it is so famous in its own right, it can be overlooked that the wines are exclusively made from the Chardonnay grape.

    Tasting Notes:

The bouquet opens up to reveal fresh, white-fleshed fruit with a hint of spiciness. With more time, a mineral note brings complexity to the ensemble. A long aromatic persistence with a good density of fruit on the palate gives an outstanding balance.

  • The Producer

    LA CHABLISIENNE

La Chablisienne is a co-operative that dates back to 1923, though it should now be rightly considered a group of nearly 300 winegrowers who have full control over the winery.

The co-operative is represented in each of the 20 villages in Chablis and accounts for one third of all wines from Chablis. Much is sold to Burgundy merchants but that which is bottled under their own labels offers a very reliable quality on all levels.

La Chablisienne won the French Producer of the Year Trophy at the IWSC 2018 – the second time that have scooped this award.
