La Sabblette Muscadet ‘Sur Lie’
La Sablette Muscadet is vinified „sur lie“: that is left on the yeast for a long time, before being bottled directly from there. The wine growers of Muscadet in Loire developed this unique style that gives a bit of creamyness and a little natural carbon dioxide sparkle to the wine.
The Muscadet appelation covers 23 communes to the south-east of Nantes, around Vallet, Clisson, Le Loroux Bottereau, and Vertou. Located between the Sèvre and the Maine rivers, the terroir is a mix of volcanic rock with great deal of light, stony soil, either silica-based or more alkaline.
La Sablette, the village’s name close to Vallet, is made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne grape varietal. The vineyards are of loamy soil with schist and granite.
