  • The Producer

Pazo do Mar’s Rías Baixas winery is located in Arbo, Pontevedra and dedicated to the Albariño grape variety.
The concept of this winery is “Vino de Pago” or wine made exclusively with grapes provided by a single estate or property, the high quality is due to the professional management of the vineyard and its uniformed quality.
The vineyard of 18ha dates from 2002 is planted on a novel and unique single trellis system, opposed to the typical arbor system of the area, which gives us an important differentiation in quality.

The Godello wine is made at Adegas Pazo das Tapias – founded in 2006 when the Mendez family acquired the winery. Pazo das Tapias is located in the middle of its own vineyard, probably the best vineyards of the Monterrei D.O. in seniority and quality.
Grapes from their own vineyard of 10ha are supplemented with those from 60 external growers whose production is directly controlled by the winery through long-term contracts.
The vineyard has two different and visably distinct types of soil: a sandy hillside planted with the white variety Godello where the bright reflections from ground quartz maximize the concentration of fruit; and the sedimentary area planted with the red Mencia where there is a perfect phenolic maturity which indicates the great potential for development.
